These special, high volume 3.5 tonne luton box vans were developed for a local manufaturer, who deals in lightweight but bulky goods. They required a large storage space, with a flat floor (therefore not a dropwell luton), in a 3.5t GVW vehicle without a tail lift – this vehicle configuration was the solution. Due to the special order nature of this 5m luton van hire vehicle, we may not have them available to hire at short notice. But please contact our hire team if you would like to register your interest for when these vehicles become available, or if you are an existing customer who would like to ordering one of these for long-term hire.
Applications for these high-volume box vans include furniture manufacturers and wholesalers, along with coffin makers, carrying stock for shops/stalls, carrying light building materials, antiques dealers, and many more. Their exceptional 5 metre loadspace length along the floor puts these lutons amongst our largest volume box vans on a 3.5 tonne chassis, with an average load space volume of 27.7m³. Despite their large volume and overall length, our 3,500 Kg GVW flat floor lutons such as this, can be driven by anyone with a standard category B driving licence.
The bodies of our 3.5 tonne GVW luton vans feature internal load lashing rails – to allow goods to be secured in the body and kept safe & dry during transit and storage – and twin barn-style rear doors which can be secured with a padlock (not supplied). The large cargo storage capacity in the box style body is ideal for carrying bulky items, which aren’t heavy enough to justify the use of a 7.5t box van.
Due to the large volume of these bodies (around 2 feet longer than standard luton vans) and their heavy duty barn rear doors, they subsequently also have a lower payload.

Therefore, under current rules you should not have to pay a charge to use your hired vehicle within a Clean Air Zone, LEZ or the enlarged ULEZ zone in Greater & Central London.
