The Value Range of 3.5 tonne hire vans from Maun Motors is predominantly aimed at private & non-business rental customers who need to hire a vehicle for a short period of time – from 4 hours to a few days – with insurance included. We sought to provide a range of modern vehicles with impressive features – in a number of body styles, including: Luton with Tail Lift, Dropwell Luton, Curtainside and Dropside – which would be a joy to hire and drive. Often this market is catered for with older vehicles which have been well used, making them suitable for short-term cheap van hire, but we thought we could offer customers something different. Maun Motors’ Value Range of vans is built on brand-new, lightweight LDV V80 (formerly Maxus) chassis-cabs, which offer a superb level of driver comfort with features including: Air Conditioning, Electric Windows, Electric Mirrors, Cruise Control, Bluetooth Connectivity, 2.5 litre Turbo-charged Engine, Disc Brakes All-round with ABS & ESP. The V80 is a front-wheel drive vehicle, so it benefits from a low loading height and improved payload over similar, rear-wheel drive models. On these chassis we fit top-quality bodies by our primary body builder, JC Payne. With hard-wearing components such as heavy-duty resin-bonded load deck, and handy features like V-groove side raves with pull-up lashing hooks, so you can be assured that although you’re paying a great value price to hire our Value Range, you’re hiring a quality vehicle which is on top of the job!

This 13 foot 6 inch (4.12 metre) dropwell luton box van has amongst the largest payload of all our 3,500 Kg GVW dropwell lutons – a whopping 1040kg! The bodies of these vehicles feature internal load lashing rails, LED interior lamps and a large, useable, over-cab luton storage pod.

A dropwell luton removals van, or “Pantechnicon box van”, has a lowered floor section at the rear of the body to aid in the loading and safe storage of bulky items such as furniture. Dropwell lutons can be stepped into from street level, rather than being several feet from the ground as with a standard luton or box van.  For this reason a tail lift is unnecessary for loading access, so dropwell luton vans do not have tail lifts fitted.  Typical dropwell hire applications include furniture removals, moving house, carrying stock for shops/stalls, carrying light building materials, antiques dealers, insulation installers, and many more.

These high-volume box vans are perfect for a DIY weekend house move.  Their “Jumbo” body size makes dropwell lutons our largest volume box van on a 3.5 tonne chassis, with an average load space volume of over 16m³.  Despite their large volume and overall length, our dropwell lutons such as this, with 3,500 Kg GVW, can be driven by anyone with a standard category B (“car”) driving licence.

INSURANCE EXCLUSIONS:  Please note that when hiring vehicles on our own insurance we, regrettably, cannot cover drivers of 70 years of age and above, or those under 25 years of age (more info in our FAQs). All drivers must have held a full licence for at least 2 years. Towing with the vehicle is NOT permitted; even if the vehicle you hire has a towbar fitted. If you need to tow with your hire vehicle, you must arrange additional insurance cover prior to commencement of the hire agreement.

DRIVING LICENCE VALIDITY: Since DVLA abolished the paper counterpart driving licence, it has affected how hire companies are able to validate driving licences of their customers. Hirers must now enter their details into a website in order to generate a validation code to share with us, otherwise we are unable to hire to them.

LONDON ULEZ (ULTRA Low Emission Zone) & Clean Air Zones

Thanks to meeting the Euro 6 emissions rating, our vehicles are suitable for use within the London ULEZ Low Emission Zone, Low Emission Zones (LEZ) in Scotland, and the Clean Air Zones operating in cities such as Birmingham, Sheffield, Tyneside – Newcastle and Gateshead, Bradford, Bath, Bristol & Portsmouth. Therefore, under current rules you should not have to pay a charge to use your hired vehicle within a Clean Air Zone, LEZ or the enlarged ULEZ zone in Greater & Central London.

Moving house? To make the job easier, did you know that we also rent out sack trolleys? Standard sack trolleys are available for an additional £4.50 +VAT per day and specialist “Stairclimber” sack trolleys are available for an additional £6.50 +VAT per day.
