Curtain-side lorries – also known as “Tautliner“ – offer all of the load carrying volume of a large box body, with the added benefit of unrestricted access from three sides during loading and unloading; whether by manual load handling or by forklift truck.ย Therefore, curtain siders provide the flexibility that can accommodate a variety of cargos.
A tail-lift can aid with the loading/unloading of goods – especially those on pallets with the aid of a pallet truck, and goods loaded in wheeled Dutch trolleys or Danish trolleys – and bulky or heavy objects of up to 1000 Kg can be loaded & unloaded with ease.ย Some Maun Motors curtainside lorries – such as this one – are fitted with tail-lifts, but not all, so please state if you require a tail lift when you call to book your vehicle.
The body of this 18,000 kg GVW curtain side truck has heavy-duty, hard-wearing, hardwood half-lap flooring.ย The lightweight curtain-side body and features various integrated tie-down points inside the body for maximum load security.ย Both the curtains and the barn-style rear doors are lockable for security.ย The chassis features a standard 4×2 axle configuration.ย Our maintenance procedures ensure that tail lifts on our hire vans receive regular servicing and LOLER safety testing so you can remain compliant and hire with confidence from Maun Motors.
This version features a day cab, but we also have similar vehicles with sleeper cabs which are designed for use on longer journeys which may require an overnight stay.ย A sleeper cab allows the driver to sleep in the vehicle in comfort, which can also be beneficial for use during rest periods to ensure compliance with driver hours legislation.

Curtain-Side lorries are sometimes used as portable stages for outdoor events, such as small music festivals, carnivals & fรชtes (subject to sufficient insurance and risk assessments). What makes a curtain sider useful as a mobile outdoor stage and performance space, is the obstacle-free flat floor, the fixed canopy above for weather protection, the generous floorspace, and the option to leave the curtain closed on one side of the body โ improving acoustics and reducing wind interference.
