Temperature-controlled transport forms an essential, irreplaceable part of retail, catering and science industries. People rely on refrigerated vehicles for chilled distribution to deliver them perishable goods such as fresh stock, food, ingredients, plants, chemicals and medicines, in pristine condition and in a safe & hygienic manner. The number of applications for temperature-controlled distribution are many and diverse – from small organisations like village stores and community food banks, to large supermarkets and pharma companies. Fridge van hire provides a flexible solution to short-term chiller van requirements.
Maun Motors respect this and although our chiller van fleet size is small, we provide refrigerated vehicles which are insulated and fitted out professionally with good quality chiller units, by a local company. Prior to each hire the chilled load compartment is hygienically cleaned.
We currently have some L3H2 (LWB, Medium Roof) Ford Transit T350 TDCi fridge vans available to hire, with approximately 9.3m³ of storage space and a load length of approx 3m. These vans feature a 240 volt, 16 Amp electric plug-in / hook-up facility known as “Stand-by” or “Standby” (and occasionally “Overnight Stand-by”). Most van refrigeration systems will only operate with the vehicle engine running, but Standby allows the operator to pre-cool the load space and also to use the vehicle for chilled storage; powered by single phase mains electricity or by a generator. This feature makes standby a necessary feature for customers such as event caterers, event bars, festivals, galas & fetes.

If you are looking for a slightly smaller refrigerated van, we also have some Transit T290 TDCi L2H2 chiller vans with approximately 7.8m³ of chilled storage and 240 volt standby electric plug-in; along with some Transit Custom / Transit T280 TDCi SWB Short Wheelbase, chiller vans with approximately 6.5m³ of storage space, which will accept two pallets of goods in the rear.
Refrigerated vehicles are often abbreviated to “reefer” vehicles, so you may be searching to find a reefer van for hire. It’s just a play on refrigerated, and another way of saying fridge van, chiller van, etc.

LONDON ULEZ (ULTRA Low Emission Zone) & Clean Air Zones
Thanks to meeting the Euro 6 emissions rating, our vehicles are suitable for use within the London ULEZ Low Emission Zone, Low Emission Zones (LEZ) in Scotland, and the Clean Air Zones operating in cities such as Birmingham, Sheffield, Tyneside – Newcastle and Gateshead, Bradford, Bath, Bristol & Portsmouth. Therefore, under current rules you should not have to pay a charge to use your hired vehicle within a Clean Air Zone, LEZ or the enlarged ULEZ zone in Greater & Central London.
