Hiab Lorry Hire

A selection of the Hiab crane lorries we have available for self drive hire

Hiab Lorry Hire from Maun Motors

Crane Lorry Rental

HIAB is a Swedish manufacturer of loader cranes and truck-mounted forklifts. However, for many years the term ‘Hiab’ has become the commonly adopted generic term all crane lorries. Hiab hire – or Hiab crane lorry rental – has been a speciality of Maun Motors Self Drive since the 1990s and we have a comprehensive range of Hiab crane lorries available to hire, ranging from 7.5 tonne GVW up to 32 tonne GVW

These specialist crane-equipped vehicles have a wide variety of uses. With many configurations available, including: different lifting capacities, front mounted or rear mounted cranes, attachments including brick grabs and clamshell grab buckets – crane lorries enable “self-sufficient” collections & deliveries. Thus reducing the need for forklifts or mobile cranes to be present at collection or delivery sites – with obvious financial benefits.

Our crane lorries are available with a range of body styles, including dropsides, flatbeds and tipper-grab ‘muckaways’ with tipper body and a front-mounted crane with grab bucket.

Boasting one of the most comprehensive ranges of crane lorry rental and HIAB vehicles in the country, Maun Motors is ‘the one-stop shop’ for all heavy-duty transportation requirements.

Modern Vehicles

To help our customers comply with the evolving legislative requirements for commercial vehicles operating in & around major UK cities like London, Birmingham and Manchester, Maun Motors can supply a selection of hire vehicles which are compliant with the standards of CLOCS, Crossrail and FORS. These vehicles feature additional safety equipment to help reduce Goods Vehicle collisions with vulnerable road users – such as cyclists and pedestrians – whilst managing other elements of WRRR (Work Related Road Risk).  Our modern Hiab & crane lorry rental fleet consists mainly of trucks built to meet Euro 6 emissions standards, but please state at time of booking if you intend to operate within London Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) or a city which operates a Clean Air Zone (CAZ) so that we can ensure a compliant lorry is supplied.

Convenient Location for the Midlands and mainland Great Britain

Our convenient central base in the East Midlands means we’re ideally placed to supply self drive HIAB crane lorry hire to cities such as Nottingham, Derby, Leicester, Loughborough, Northampton & Sheffield. With the A38 dual carriageway and the M1 motorway both running just 2 minutes away from our hire depot, we have great transport links from most areas of mainland Britain, particularly the Midlands including Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire & Northamptonshire. We’re less than an hour by road from the centres of Leicester, Newark-on-Trent, Burton upon Trent, Uttoxeter & Loughborough and just a few miles by road from the following towns & cities: Nottingham (16 miles), Derby (17.5 miles), East Midlands Airport (28.5 miles), Stafford & Stoke-on-Trent (50 miles), Coventry (62.5 miles) & Northampton (75 miles).

What a fantastic service! This was our first time using Maun Motors as we were working out of our normal area. It was all so easy, I have to admit I was a little nervous thinking it was too good to be true, however our driver arrived picked up the vehicle no issues at all. Great value, great service and great vehicles. Thank you very much!read more

I needed a van at short notice, and although I had to hire a van a size category larger than I needed, it worked out fine. The van was in decent condition, and cleaned to an acceptable level. The van performed nicely, kept in a straight line with no pulling, had decent tyres, everything worked; it was all that you need from a short-term hire van. There was a distinct smell of oil in the cargo area, somebody must have used it for transporting a leaking engine or something in the past. The lesson here is always bring a large tarpaulin sheet when you hire a van, you never know what other people have used it for.The staff were polite, and the whole process from enquiry through pickup, to return was a very smooth and easy process. They need a driving licence share code, but even offered to help generate that at pickup if I needed help. All in all, a great experience.read more

We had a 3.5 tonn Luton van with tail lift for half a day. The van was spotless, everything in good working order. We were struggling to work out how to operate the tail lift, called the reception and they explained us the procedure no problem.I reduced by one star because the receptionist tried to charge me for the whole day but corrected the error as soon as I queried the amount with him. When paying - be attentive to the amount on the card machine.read more

Always had a good service from Maun Motors in terms of ease of rental. However, some of the people here shouldn't be on the front desk and can come across rude at times.I also picked a van up that had cleaning product over the pedals making it dangerous to drive. But overall better than some of the other van hire places locally. Also, book in advance!read more

Maun are experts in what they do, extremely reliable, great quality vehicles and a very knowledgable rental team happy to help at the end of the phone. Our business has spent tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands with them over the last couple of years and honestly can’t fault them. If you need a van or HGV, Maun are your best bet.read more

I hired this mini bus to take 3 young lads down to Devon for 5 days and we were absolutely delighted with the service and the mini bus we had. I had looked around for the best deal as the 3 lads pay for it from their own money and Maun Motors gave us the best deal. The 9 seater mini bus was ideal for all our needs and I was delighted to have the option to take it back on the Saturday morning rather than rush home to tackle the M1 on a Friday afternoon early evening. Staff were all good from my initial first contact via email to the face to face interactions. Would definitely recommend that you check this Company out for whatever you need. Superb.read more

The ultimate no frills, rock solid van hire. Book your van, turn up, 2 minutes of paperwork, off you go, come back, sign in, job done. I've had trips to the bog that have taken considerably longer than all the admin involved. Don't count on it having much fuel in when you pick up, don't worry about leaving much in when you drop off. Dissapointed hire of Luton Van. Hired a Luton for 24hrs this week. Collection and staff good but the 09 registered van was past its best. After fully loading the van the shutter at the rear wS jammed and would not go down. It was raining and on our trip to Derby everything at the back was soaked even though the tail lift was up. On trying to release the tail lift it was apparent that the right side was lower than the left. I had to grab the right side forcing it up, run to the left release the safety latch then I could lower it. Nearly 50 times I needed to do this. I did call and a lady said she made a not on the invoice but that was all. Disapointedread more
