18 tonne GVW Muckaway Tipper-Grab Crane Lorry with Clamshell Bucket & Insulated Body
For “muckaway” or “muck-shifting” applications, Maun Motors offers tipper grab lorry hire.ย We have a range of crane lorries equipped with heavy-duty tipping bodies and quality clamshell buckets, ranging in size from this 4 wheel 18 tonne GVW version up to 8 wheel 32 tonners, with 6 wheel 26 tonne GVW in-between.
Wherever there are civil engineering groundworks โ be they highways maintenance, utility works, telecommunications installations or general construction โ there is always the requirement for tipper grab lorry hire, to move or remove hardcore, soil and spoil.
This 18,000 kg GVW truck has a heavy duty “hotbox” type tipper body with insulated dropsides, tarmac chutes in the tailboard and a hardened floor.ย The chassis features a standard 4×2 axle configuration.

Our most recent model features the Palfinger PK 12.501 SLD5, which has radio-remote control with the option to mount the control unit in a position which overlooks the body, so the grab can be used in the traditional “stand-up controls” manner. Other key features of the crane include: Single Link knuckle boom, A-HPLS High Power Lifting System, High Speed Extension and PALTRONIC conbtrol electronics.
Our maintenance procedures ensure that lorry loaders on our hire crane lorries receive regular servicing and LOLER safety testing so you can remain compliant and hire with confidence from Maun Motors.
All our muckaway cranes have stand-up controls, overlooking the body and crane work area, for ease of use and safety.

Thanks to meeting the Euro 6 emissions rating, our vehicles are suitable for use within the London ULEZ Low Emission Zone, Low Emission Zones (LEZ) in Scotland, and the Clean Air Zones operating in cities such as Birmingham, Sheffield, Tyneside – Newcastle and Gateshead, Bradford, Bath, Bristol & Portsmouth. Therefore, under current rules you should not have to pay a charge to use your hired vehicle within a Clean Air Zone, LEZ or the enlarged ULEZ zone in Greater & Central London.
