Maun Motors have a range of 3.5 tonne vans fitted with flatbed pick-up bodies to suit most applications, whether you need a standard dropside, a dropside with tail-lift, a plain flat-bed or an extra-long dropside, we have a vehicle to suit your needs.
This extra-long 16 foot (4.87 metre) “Jumbo” XL dropside is one of the longest 3.5 tonne GVW flatbeds we have available on our van rental fleet (although we also have a 17 foot/5 metre-plus XXL dropside available). Based on the hardy Volkswagen Crafter CR35 TDI LWB or Ford Transit T350 L5 long wheelbase chassis-cabs, these dropsides are popular for use in transporting scaffolding, uPVC extrusions and window & door frames, street lighting, etc.
Despite the impressive load length size, this vehicle can still be driven on a standard car licence (category B) and due to its ultra-light body construction – using aluminium wherever possible – it still has an impressive payload of 1,300 kg! The bodies of these vehicles feature aluminium dropsides and hard-wearing, specialist resin-bonded plywood, load decks, along with pull-up load retention rings, under-chassis roping hooks & aluminium ladder-frame headboard.
If you’re planning long-term or contract hire, we can even arrange to have a body built specific to your needs*. In the past we’ve supplied 3.5 tonne vehicles with specialist 19 foot/5.8m dropside bodies for carrying PVCu extrusions.
Occasionally we have dropsides available with crew cabs, allowing up to 5 passengers and a driver to be transported in one vehicle; an extremely practical option. Please call for availability.

LONDON ULEZ (ULTRA Low Emission Zone) & Clean Air Zones
Thanks to meeting the Euro 6 emissions rating, our vehicles are suitable for use within the London ULEZ Low Emission Zone, Low Emission Zones (LEZ) in Scotland, and the Clean Air Zones operating in cities such as Birmingham, Sheffield, Tyneside – Newcastle and Gateshead, Bradford, Bath, Bristol & Portsmouth. Therefore, under current rules you should not have to pay a charge to use your hired vehicle within a Clean Air Zone, LEZ or the enlarged ULEZ zone in Greater & Central London.

INSURANCE EXCLUSIONS: Please note that when hiring vehicles on our own insurance we, regrettably, cannot cover drivers of 70 years of age and above, or those under 25 years of age (more info in our FAQs). All drivers must have held a full licence for at least 2 years. Towing with the vehicle is NOT permitted; even if the vehicle you hire has a towbar fitted. If you need to tow with your hire vehicle, you must arrange additional insurance cover prior to commencement of the hire agreement.

DRIVING LICENCE VALIDITY: Since DVLA abolished the paper counterpart driving licence, it has affected how hire companies are able to validate driving licences of their customers. Hirers must now enter their details into a website in order to generate a validation code to share with us, otherwise we are unable to hire to them.
